Teaching Methodology
Teaching Methodology are general approaches or methods used to teach English. Over time they have changed and borrowed from research.
- Grammar Translation: this uses direct translation from the students' MT. This is generally considered old fashioned and not very productive or intuitive.
- Direct Method: full immersion. This imitates how native speakers learn a language; it effectively immerses the student in the target language.
- Behaviourist: rewards.
- Communicative: communication. This focusses on teaching certain pragmatic aspects of language such as how to perform certain functions.
- Eclectic: a mix of all the above.
- Full Immersion: use of English only.
