Second Conditional
From TEFL World Wiki
If I had a nickel for everything I lost my keys, I would be a rich man.
If I got a promotion I would give a great party.
If I were younger, I would do things differently.
The sentence is made up by an “if clause” and a main clause.
The verb in the “if clause” is in the simple past, whilst the verb in the main clause is in the conditionals.
The sequence of events described sounds very unlikely.
The speaker is in a wishful thinking mode
You guessed it! You are in the presence of the second conditional.
