Present Perfect Continuous or Present Perfect Simple?

Both tenses are used for an action which finished a short while ago. The Present Perfect Simple tells us the action is completed and the result can be seen, the Present Perfect Continuous tense indicates that the action went on for some time.

I've been reading War & Peace and I have almost finished it.
I've read War & Peace but I found the end boring.
