Morphology

Morphology is the study of the internal structure of words, and of the rules by which words are formed.
Words can be studied from different angles:
- spelling
- pronunciation
- definition
- part of speech
- history
- non-standard usage/slang
- whether the word is vulgar
- whether the word is obsolete
- examples
Morphology is the branch of linguistics that studies patterns of word formation within and across languages, and attempts to formulate rules that model the knowledge of the speakers of those languages.
