Inflection
From TEFL World Wiki
Inflection is the variation in the form of a word, typically by means of an affix, to so that it fits within a certain grammatical context.
Basically, inflection is the way language handles grammatical relations. For example, in English many nouns are inflected for number with the inflectional plural affix -s
boy → boys
Regular English verbs are inflected for tense with the inflectional past tense affix -ed
love → loved
In the following sentence, the verb come is inflected for person and number by the suffix -s.
Our cleaning lady comes twice a week.
Inflection of nouns in English is called declension.
