ICAL TESL/TEFL Certificate with TP
The ICAL 130hrs TESL/TEFL Certificate with TP is a qualification accepted in both the private and public teaching sector. It differs from the ICAL TESL/TEFL Certificate in having a TP or Teaching Practice component whereby teacher trainees are observed teaching in class via video.
Some schools favour certification which includes the assessment of the candidate’s teaching practice through close monitoring of actual lessons carried out in a classroom. This course gives scope to those teachers who wish to have such a component included in their training.
The course approach is in-depth but the material is presented in simple steps and with the help of personal tutors.
The course covers the principles behind teaching English as a second or foreign language. Current theories, teaching methods and trends in second language learning are presented along with the psychological, sociological and pedagogical factors which affect the learning and teaching of languages.
At the same time the ICAL course provides practical ideas and techniques that can help language learning in any situation: in a private lesson; school setting; specialized classes; missionary work; community project; etc.
By the end of the course you will be familiar with learners’ needs analysis, effective syllabus design, clever lesson planning, materials adaptation, evaluation & assessment of students’ language development; classroom management, etc.
The TP component includes several hours of live classroom time which is videotaped and assessed by an ICAL tutor. There are additional elements also such as keeping a teaching journal and suchlike.
The course is online and allows for self paced study.
