Help:Introduction to Editors

From TEFL World Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Before editing any pages on the ICAL wiki, you should also make sure to read this page thoroughly. It explains a few basic principles.

  1. Try and keep any changes factual rather than anecdotal or emotional.
  2. Existing pages are there to be built on rather than replaced. In other words, you are free to amend a page and expand on its content but do not please completely replace an existing article with another you have written.
  3. Feel free to make as many changes as you wish. This includes adding occasional facts or changes here and there. There's no need to only make major changes!
  4. Use impersonal pronouns such as they, their, themself and themselves rather than gender specific pronouns.
  5. Whenever possible try and link text to relevant existing wiki articles.
  6. Any external links should go under == Useful Links == at the end of the article.
  7. We tend to use British English spelling but it's not compulsory.

Tip: take the time to see how the existing Free-ESL TEFL Wiki articles are laid out to get a feel for the right format.
