Coordination
Coordination is a way of combining clauses together. The clauses which we combine together through coordination are independent clauses.
The way in which we combine them is by way of coordinating conjunctions, like: and, or, but, so and a comma - usually placed in front of each coordinating conjunction.
Clauses before coordination:
Yesterday I bought eggs and milk.
Today I’m making a cake.
Clauses after coordination:
Yesterday I bought eggs and milk and today I’m making a cake.
